Installed Mobile Applications and Screen Time Data Correlation Analysis for Senior High School Students in East Jakarta

Mobile phones, especially smartphones, can store and run multiple applications with faster processors, larger storage, and memory. Smartphones have become essential personal devices, and their users have increased intensely over the last decade. Screen time is the time spent on online activities with digital devices. The Spearman coefficient is a monotonic function that articulates the relationship between two variables and solves the problem according to the sort of position of the original data. This research aimed to find a correlation between the number of apps installed on a mobile phone and daily screen time in minutes. This research used a quantitative method, using primary data from a survey and descriptive statistical analysis. The period covered was October to November 2024. The results and discussion revealed a significant average number of installed applications on mobile phones, totaling 89.8 ± 40.06. The average daily screen time was also notable at 490.38 ± 152 minutes. When analyzing the data using Spearman’s Rho, a correlation coefficient of 0.08 was found between the number of installed applications and the average daily screen time for Android and iOS users. Although this correlation was positive, it was considered weak and statistically insignificant. There is still room for opportunities in this research area
