On the laser effect on particle decay in strong-field QED
In light of the continuous growing laser technologies and facilities, we consider the effect of laser on particle decay in strong-field Quantum Electrodynamics (QED). For that, we investigate the effect of a strong electromagnetic field [Formula: see text] on the particle decay within the enhanced fluctuations of the surrounding vacuum. In particular, we show that the induced effective mass [Formula: see text] alters its decay width [Formula: see text], thing that results in an extremely small modification of the particle’s lifetime [Formula: see text]. It has been found that this effect corresponds to either a stabilization (longer lifetime) [Formula: see text] or a destabilization (shorter lifetime) [Formula: see text] behavior, depending on the particle’s mass and the strength of the laser field. By approaching the involved physical quantities according to the known data, we discuss the obtained results.
