Observational study on the effectiveness of misoprostol for induction of labour as a low-cost method in a tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka
Labour induction is a critical obstetric intervention to ensure safe delivery for both mother and baby. In resource-limited settings like Sri Lanka, cost-effective methods for labour induction are essential. Misoprostol, a prostaglandin E1 analogue, has emerged as a promising option due to its affordability and effectiveness. This observational study investigates the efficacy of misoprostol for labour induction in a tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka. By analysing real-world data, this research aims to provide insights into misoprostol’s efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness as an induction method in this setting, ultimately aiming to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes1.
