La percepción cromática y su aplicación en español, italiano y polaco en películas infantiles audiodescritas

This article aims to explore audio description scripts created for children’s audiences, focusing specifically on how these scripts convey the colours that appear in films and contribute to narrative development. After presenting the theoretical framework, which includes studies on colour perception, the audio descriptions in Spanish (both European and Latin American), Italian, and Polish are analyzed for two films: Leo and El Rey Mono. Both films were released in 2023 and contain significant references to colour. The analysis is conducted within the context of Wilson and Sperber’s Relevance Theory. This study emphasizes that colors not only enhance visual stimulation but also contribute to narrative development. It is demonstrated that there are notable differences in the treatment of color across intralinguistic and interlinguistic versions, revealing that the omission or alteration of color descriptions may impact the audience’s understanding, particularly for children with visual impairments.
