The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Distinguishing Between True and Fake News on Television Channels in Kurdistan Region - Iraq

Fake news and hoaxes have existed since before the Internet. Fake articles on the Internet that are purposefully created to mislead readers are the commonly recognized definition of fake news. Fake news is posted on social media and in news sources in an effort to draw in more readers or as a tactic in psychological warfare. Making money with click bait is usually the aim. Vibrant headlines or eye-catching images tempt people to click links, hence increasing ad revenue. This tactic is known as click bait. The rapid expansion of digital media and social media platforms has led to a widespread problem of disseminating false information and fake news, endangering the independence of public debate and decision-making procedures. A major technique for identifying and countering fake news has been the development of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in response to this challenge. AI algorithms look for indications of disinformation and manipulation in textual and multimedia content using a range of methods, such as natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, deep learning, and network analysis. The main objective of this study is to determine the role of artificial intelligence in distinguishing between true and fake news on television channels in the Kurdistan Region.
