The Unidimensionality and Local Independence of the Heritage Chinese Language Reading Proficiency Literacy Subtest
The aim of this study was to investigate the unidimensionality and local independence properties of the Heritage Chinese Language Reading Proficiency Literacy subtest (HCR-L) for overseas Chinese students through Rasch measurements. The HCR1-L was administered to a sample of 692 overseas Chinese students. The results showed that the subtest fit the Rasch model well. The degree of reliability was high. The claim that the HCR1-L is basically unidimensional is supported by a number of indicators from this investigation. It seems plausible to conclude that the HCR1-L adheres to the principle of local independence of items based on the findings of both item fit analysis and correlation analysis between item residuals.
