Dynamic Authentication Scheme for Advanced Security in Federated Metaverse Systems
The Metaverse is an open world constantly evolving as people provide new forms of interaction in the digital space with the help of technologies such as blockchain, augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. An evolution of this concept is the Federated Metaverse, it considers the digital world as a network of Metaworlds all managed independently. Specifically, identity verification represents a key component of this federated architecture in order to manage permissions and authentication relative to each Metaworld's regulations. With such diversification of use cases in the Metaverse, the aspect of security is critical as the Metaverse becomes part of people's regular lives. Based on the needs regarding algorithms and based on multiple factors for the improved security, this paper has developed a dynamic authentication scheme for the Federated Metaverse. This scheme enables dynamic authentication through a handshake process that efficiently gathers security requirements, allowing for scalable solutions that adapt to either simple or advanced security measures, thus balancing security, privacy, and usability with authentication speed based on the specified requirements.
