The Prospects for the Use of Invasive Species in the Process of Landscaping the City of Vanadzor

Key words: greening, green plantings, invasive species, climate change, species composition change, favorable conditions In the context of climate change, opportunities for the introduction of invasive species, their adaptation, favorable growth and development in new places are increasing. Many invasive plant species are used for landscaping. Adapting favorably to climatic and environmental conditions, they displace previously used species. The research was carried out on green spaces in the city of Vanadzor, Lori region of the Republic of Armenia. Associated tree species make up the studied plants 72.7 %, and main types of trees 27.2 %, and Аcer Platanoides L. makes up 18.1 %, Carpinus betulus L. 22.7 %, Populus alba L. 4.5 %, Salix albav. 9 %, Tilia cordata Mill 13,6 %, Lonicera caucasica L. 13.6 %, Cornus mas L. 9 %, Jasminum fruticans L. 4.5 %, Betula litwinowii 4.5 %. The largest number are individuals of the Carpinus betulus L., probably due to the barrier-forming and noise-absorbing properties of the latter. In the field of landscaping in the city of Vanadzor, due to climate change, invasive plant species that quickly adapt and have aesthetic value are promising. The largest number of invasive species found in various green areas of the city of Vanadzor is Catalpa L. in Artsakh Park - 35.4 %, Paulownia L. 10.4 %, B. Litwinowii 31.25 %, Magnolia L. 6.25 % and J. Sabina L. 16.6 %.
