A Simulation Study of the Impact of Dynamic Capabilities on Performance of Platform Enterprises Based on the NK Model
The rapid development of the platform economy has brought much attention to how platform enterprises can achieve steady performance improvement in a turbulent and complex external environment. This paper combines the existing literature to classify the dynamic capability dimensions of platform enterprises, and based on the NK model using Matlab software, simulates the impact of different dimensions of dynamic capabilities on the performance of platform enterprises. In addition, the simulation results are interpreted with specific cases. The results of the study show that: High levels of sensing capability do not have a significant positive effect on performance, while relatively low levels of sensing capability have a significant positive effect on performance. Seizing capability has a significant positive effect on performance. A certain range level of reconfiguring capability has a significant positive effect on performance, while reconfiguring capability beyond a certain range level has a significant negative effect on performance due to cost constraints. The results of the study confirm the applicability of the NK model using computer simulation in the management domain, and the case study demonstrates the relevance of the study for platform companies to improve their performance using dynamic capabilities.
