From a particular case, the present article attempts to give an account of 19th century Medellín´s moral spirit. Amidst the vicissitudes of the revolution and the reconquest, it was a society in search of who was guilty, expiating with particular actions of “justice” its own collective guilt for the crime of rebellion.
