Deciphering Shadows of the Mind: Leveraging Random Forest to Unravel Anxiety and Depression from Online Posts

The challenge of accurately identifying and addressing depression has intensified, particularly in the context of evolving societal norms. Traditional approaches to diagnosing depression, such as self-reporting and clinical assessments, though valuable, face limitations regarding reach and promptness. With the growing impact of mental health issues on global productivity, personal well-being, and overall public health, there is a pressing demand for more effective diagnostic methods. The integration of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) technologies has revolutionized data analysis, enabling the discovery of patterns and correlations that may elude human observation. This research leverages the synergy between advanced computational techniques and psychological theories to enhance the precision of detecting depressive tendencies through an innovative amalgamation of textual and vocal data. Achieving an unparalleled accuracy of up to 99.99%, with comparable precision rates and f1-scores varying from 0.54 in complex cases to 0.99, signifies a monumental advancement in mental health diagnostics. Our findings not only represent quantitative victories but also mark the dawn of a new chapter in mental health care, characterized by greater access and a more nuanced comprehension of the dynamics of human emotions and behavior.
