Failure Models for Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks
Space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGINs), which integrate the satellite network, aerial network and terrestrial network, have been widely envisioned as a promising network architecture for satellite internet. However, SAGINs are facing more and more threats from both natural disasters and human attacks, causing various network failures. This paper presents a review on failure models for SAGINs, which are crucial for network vulnerability assessment due to network failures. By classifying the network failures into three basic categories (i.e., link failures, node failures and region failures), we first present the corresponding three basic failure models for SAGINs, and then introduce the more general failure models in SAGINs based on different combinations of these basic failure models. Finally, some open issues of failure modeling in SAGINs are discussed.
