Interaction Between Power Allocation and BER Performance for mCAP-NOMA in Visible Light Communication

In this work, we investigate a combination of multiband carrierless amplitude and phase (m CAP) with nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in visible light communication (VLC) networks, which can be a suitable candidate for the next-generation of mobile networks. Our study includes a theoretical analysis of a two-user m CAP-NOMA scheme and a comparison between two well-known gain ratio power allocation (GRPA) and the fixed power allocation (FPA) methods. Simulation results indicate that our system model, combined with the GRPA method, outperforms the FPA method in terms of bit error rate (BER) performance. This improvement is observed in scenarios where users are either both static or when one user is static and the other is mobile. Moreover, our results indicates that the user located at a greater distance from the optical access point (AP) achieves lower BER compared to the user placed at a shorter distance to the AP.
