Technological Solutions for Mitigating Air Pollution from E-Waste: A Brief Overview

This paper focuses on how technology can be used to mitigate air pollution as a result of e-waste activities. End-of-pipe technologies are underscored for the good that they bring out especially given the fact that they possess a capability to recover most of the valuable elements in e-waste and produce minimal emissions. Moreover, elaborate filtration and scrubbing systems used in e-waste treatment plants help arrest pollutants and purify air as well. Supervisory systems allow for the monitoring of air quality and emissions levels in the course of a pollution event so as to capture timely remedial measures. In addition, using of renewable energy sources, for instance, solar and wind energy in e-waste recycling means reduction of use of fossil energy sources on those processes which, in turn, leads to the decrease of air pollution. Looking at the evidence and using data analytics and predictive modeling improves pollution prevention because trends can be found and the processes improved. Taken altogether these inventions help reduce impact of e-waste on environment and specifically on air quality thus enhancing overall health of the population.
