A Logical Performance Evaluation Methodology based on Bandwidth Estimation Strategy to Minimize Communication Delay over Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are critical in various applications such as environmental monitoring, smart agriculture, industrial automation, and healthcare. These networks often face significant challenges, including limited bandwidth, high communication delay, energy constraints, and varying environmental conditions. Traditional bandwidth allocation methods in WSNs often fail to adapt to dynamic network conditions, leading to suboptimal performance, increased packet loss, higher latency, and inefficient energy usage. This study presents an adaptive bandwidth estimation strategy designed to minimize communication delay in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The strategy dynamically adjusts bandwidth allocation based on real-time network conditions through continuous monitoring, precise bandwidth estimation, and adaptive adjustment of transmission parameters. Utilizing the NS-3 simulator, a realistic simulation environment was created to reflect real-world conditions, including varying node densities, traffic patterns, and environmental factors like interference and physical obstacles. The proposed model demonstrated significant improvements over existing models, achieving a packet loss rate of 0.5% compared to 1.2%, a transmission rate of 240 kbps versus 220 kbps, latency of 15 ms against 25 ms, and energy consumption of 50 mW compared to 60 mW. These results highlight the strategy's effectiveness in enhancing WSN performance, maintaining low latency, high reliability, and efficient energy consumption.
