Línguas ameaçadas e fortalecimento cultural: olhares a partir da Faculdade Indígena Intercultural da Unemat

The State University of Mato Grosso (UNEMAT), through the Intercultural Indigenous Faculty (FAINDI), welcomes and ensures the permanence of indigenous students with a dialogical pedagogical policy, as well as a language policy in an intercultural dimension. In this sense, this text aims at presenting some experiences developed within the scope of this Faculty and also in the postgraduate program in “Teaching in an Intercultural Indigenous Context” – PPGECII, both of them at the State University of Mato Grosso/UNEMAT, focused on indigenous languages. These are actions and reflections promoted by FAINDI that are aimed at a better understanding of language policies as a mobilizing element for the recognition of endangered languages and, at the same time, as a mechanism for cultural strengthening through language, by the means of the school, considering it as a promoter of ethnopolitics, regardless of the sociolinguistic situation of each people, but especially consideringthe history and social/cultural connective webs that ultimately condition the change or maintenance of indigenous languages.
