Abstract

many non-timber forest products (NTFPs) they offer. Haruku Village is rich in NTFP potential, yet utilization remains suboptimal due to limited community knowledge about processing these resources into high-value products. This community engagement initiative aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of Haruku villagers, enabling them to identify, understand, and optimally utilize NTFPs to create added economic value and foster environmental stewardship. The program employed educational and training methods, leading to significant outcomes: villagers now have a better understanding of NTFPs and can identify key commodities within this category. Additionally, they have successfully learned to process sago, a prominent NTFP commodity, into new products such as sago flour and sago cake, contributing to local economic growth.
