THE IMPACT OF WOMEN’S HEIGHT ON PREGNANCY AND DELIVERY
Studying the correlations between the height of a pregnant woman and pregnancy characteristics, birth outcomes, and complications specific to the Republic of Belarus may have a significant impact on providing care to pregnant women and their newborns. Anemia is a common complication of pregnancy, especially among short women (51 %). Short pregnant women are statistically more likely to be diagnosed with pyelonephritis (11 %) compared to tall women (1 %) OR=10.4, 95 % CI (1.2-86.6). The height of a pregnant woman has an inverse correlation with the frequency of operative delivery and a direct correlation with the size of the newborn. This should be taken into account when developing an individual plan for pregnancy and childbirth.
