MARKER CHROMOSOMES IN THE CONSTITUTIONAL KARIOTYPE: DIAGNOSTIC PROBLEMS
The article discusses the problems of identifying, diagnosing, and assessing the clinical significance of marker chromosomes in the constitutional karyotype. Priority approaches in cytogenetic diagnostics are discussed, based on modern ideas about the mechanisms of formation, structure and main types of marker chromosomes, as well as the need for an integrated approach in diagnostics. Our own data on the effectiveness of standard karyotyping and molecular cytogenetic studies are presented.
