Analisis Math Anxiety Taruna Tingkat 1 Politeknik Pelayaran Surabaya

Math anxiety can be interpreted as feelings of discomfort, anxiety, fear, and lack of confidence when solving math problems. Cadets with high math anxiety have a lack of confidence and anxiety about mathematics lectures so that they feel like avoiding mathematics or immediately ending mathematics learning. This study aims to describe the results of math anxiety analysis in level 1 cadets. The approach used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method designed to explain the level of cadets' level 1 math anxiety which is reviewed from 4 indicators, namely somatic, cognitive, affective, and mathematical knowledge indicators. The subject of this research is level 1 cadets in 2023/2024 of the Surabaya Shipping Polytechnic. The instrument used was a math anxiety questionnaire which was analyzed using a likert scale to determine the average percentage of each indicator and the category of math anxiety based on the results of the analysis. Descriptively, it can be concluded that cadets' math anxiety has the highest number of high categories and the affective indicator occupies the highest percentage of other indicators. Cadets with high math anxiety have a lack of confidence and anxiety about mathematics lectures so that they feel like avoiding mathematics or immediately ending mathematics learning.
