Lankascincus fallax (Peters, 1860) (Reptilia: Scincidae: Ristellinae) in Kerala with the first report of the genus from India
Lankascincus fallax (Peters) is reported for the first time from India based on eight specimens collected from Alappuzha, Kerala. This earlier thought Sri Lankan endemic skink is locally abundant in Alappuzha and possibly distributed in the lowlands of the southern Western Ghats. With the addition of L. fallax, the Scincidae diversity of Kerala has increased to 23 species.
