Activities of JSC “The Ukrainian research institute of refractories named after A. S. Berezhnoy” in the field of refractories standardization in 2023

The compliance level of the regulatory requirements of the current Ukrainian standards for refractories with international requirements characterizes the state of the country’s refractory industry and its place and competitiveness in the global market. To ensure the quality of refractory products manufactured by Ukrainian refractory enterprises, the Institute develops regulatory documentation (standards, technical specifications and changes to technical specifications) at the level of modern achievements in production technology and testing methods for refractory products, which promotes a unified approach to the classification, dimensions, and testing methods of refractories, taking into account the requirements of the Ukrainian standardization system and the interests of consumers. In 2023, JSC “URIR named after A. S. Berezhnoy” institute carried out scientific, scientific­technical and organizational activities in the field of development, verification of national standards for refractories, and submission of proposals to the National Standardization Body on the feasibility of adopting European and international standards. The Institute provided scientific, methodological, information and consulting services to Ukrainian enterprises on the provision of regulatory documentation for refractories. The Institute organized and coordinated the activities of the Technical Committee for Standardization TC 7 “Refractories”, prepared work plans and reports on the work done by the TC in 2023, and submitted them to the National Standardization Body — SE “UkrNDNC”. In 2023, the Institute developed 1 technical specification for serial refractory products manufactured by the refractory enterprise of Ukraine (Private Joint Stock Company “KDZ”) and 9 changes to the existing technical specifications for experimental refractory products manufactured by JSC “URIR named after A. S. Berezhnoy”. The technical specifications and changes to technical specifications for refractory products were developed under the requirements of a modern standardization system in Ukraine. The manufacture of these products allowed us to meet the needs of domestic consumers.
