Implementation of the Enlargement Law on Rod-Rod Electrodes
Increasing the capacity and voltage of an electrical equipment will have implications for increasing the dimensions of the equipment. According to Ohm's Law, increasing the dimensions between two live conductors can reduce the dielectric strength of the insulation between the two live conductors. In this paper, the results of research are reported on the effect of increasing the cross-sectional area of the rod-rod electrodes. The breakdown probability distribution, the level of homogeneity of the electric field, and the resistance of each enlargement are presented in this paper. There are five enlargements of the cross-sectional area of circular rod electrodes, namely A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and SA, with an equal to <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$172.6\text{mm}2$</tex> or with a radius of 7.5mm.
