The Advancements and Benefits of AI-Assisted Robotic Surgery
The concept of robots, which was first introduced by Karel Čapek’s term "robot," has undergone a substantial transformation from the execution of simple, tedious duties to the execution of intricate, precise operations. Robots have been incorporated into the medical and hazardous sectors due to technological advancements. The Zeus and da Vinci platforms were commercially available by the late 1990s, following the emergence of surgical robotics at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the late 1980s. These systems revolutionized minimally invasive surgery (MIS) by providing advantages such as improved precision, quicker recovery, and reduced infection risk. The da Vinci system, which received FDA approvals from 2000 to 2005, continues to be essential in robotic surgery. Modern advancements, such as the integration of AI, enhanced imaging, and miniaturization, have been instrumental in the enhancement of procedural efficiency and surgical outcomes. The proficiency of surgeons in robotic-assisted procedures is guaranteed by the continuous advancement of training techniques. Future orientations will concentrate on the integration of AI and the resolution of ethical and regulatory challenges in robotic surgery.
