J.Tseveen's contribution to the standardization of foreign name records

Since its publication, the first regular periodical in Mongolia, “Shine Toli” (New Mirror), has served as a model for how to translate and write foreign names and words into the Mongolian language, establishing a standard for writing those names later on. The editor of the newspaper, Jamtsran's Tseveen, played a significant role in demonstrating how to write and record the names of European countries and foreign words that were not translated at that time in the newspaper. The yellowed pages of the publication show us that he set an example in this regard. Notably, the names of foreign countries were often abbreviated using the Chinese characters' pronunciations, and the newspaper also took the initiative to establish these names in accordance with the names used in those countries at the time.
