IMPACT OF THE INTRODUCTION OF NEW SOCIAL STANDARDS ON THE FORMATION OF NATIONAL AND UNIVERSAL VALUES: EXISTING CHALLENGES
The article examines issues related to the new subject standards for the 5th-grade “Mother Tongue” curriculum in general education institutions. We are currently in a complex phase of educational and pedagogical reforms, where discovering new approaches is the best way to effectively address existing issues. These new approaches aim to ensure high-quality education and to develop citizens with dignity, high moral qualities, and an understanding and appreciation of national and universal values. We have taught the 5th-grade “Mother Tongue” subject using a new textbook and new subject standards. In this article, we address the features of teaching the “Mother Tongue” subject in the 5th grade and attempt to show how the educational process for students has progressed, the challenges we faced during teaching, and the impact of the new textbook and new standards on the formation of national and universal values. Moral education of students plays a crucial role in the process of personality formation. The new educational standards clearly specify the final outcomes for the 5th-grade “Mother Tongue” subject, corresponding to key concepts and sub-concepts. It is important to note that the textbook largely meets the requirements of the new standards, as it provides opportunities to develop students’ independent thinking, creative imagination, and a significant portion of the educational material in the textbook positively influences the formation of national and universal values, the development of critical thinking, and the formation of students’ comprehensive abilities. We aim to highlight several issues encountered in the educational process related to students’ moral education and the formation of universal and national values.
