A Case Report of a Patient Suspected of Post-COVID-19 Hyperhidrosis Treated with Traditional Korean Herbal Medicines

Objective: This case report aims to illustrate the effect of three different Korean medicines on hyperhidrosis of the scalp following a COVID-19 infection. Methods: The patient, who developed scalp hyperhidrosis post-COVID-19, was treated with Korean medicine. Symptom improvement was evaluated using the Hyperhidrosis Disease Severity Scale (HDSS) and the Hyperhidrosis Quality of Life Index (HidroQoL), which includes patient feedback on daily life activities and psychosocial factors. Results: The HDSS and HidroQoL scores both decreased, indicating symptom improvement after herbal medicine treatment. Conclusion: This case suggests that Korean medicine could provide symptomatic relief for hyperhidrosis associated with long COVID-19. To achieve more definitive validation, additional studies with objective measures are necessary.
