Review of Drug-Drug Interactions and Anticancer Effects of Osimertinib with Herbal Medicines: Focus on Bojungikgi-tang and Hwanglyeonhaedok-tang
Objective: To investigate the interactions and potential anticancer effects of combining osimertinib with Bojungikgi-tang (BJIKT) and Hwanglyeonhaedok-tang (HLHDT) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment. Methods: A literature review was conducted to evaluate drug interaction risks and therapeutic efficacy using pharmacokinetic models. Results: BJIKT was found to enhance the immune response, while HLHDT exhibited anti-inflammatory properties, with a minimal risk of CYP3A4 inhibition. These findings suggest the potential benefits of combining these herbal formulas with osimertinib to improve its therapeutic effects and minimize side effects. Conclusion: The combination of BJIKT and HLHDT with osimertinib shows promise as a supportive treatment strategy for NSCLC. However, further in-depth clinical studies are essential to confirm safety and efficacy.
