A Study on the Effectiveness of Instructional Models for Physical Education: A Meta-Analysis
The current study aimed to investigate the impact of instructional models for physical education on learner behaviors using meta-analytic techniques. Findings from 17 dissertations and 10 journal articles were used to test of instructional models for physical education on various learner behaviors via the comprehensive meta analysis (CMA) program. Results showed that instructional models for physical education has a medium effect on learner behaviors, with a fixed effect size of .200. In terms of the relative importance of instructional models for physical education sub-factors, learner behaviors were influenced most by TGUM(Teaching Games for Understanding Model). In predicting learner behaviors, instructional models for physical education had a most positive effect on cognitive behaviors. Results also found significant evidence for moderating variables.
