MATERIALIZATION OF THE PERCEPTION OF BRAVERY AND LIBERTY BY MOVSES KHORENATSI
In fact, the “The History of Armenia” by the “Father of Armenian History” Movses Khorenatsi can be considered a programmatic document of authentic existence, according to which in 428, after the fall of the Arshakuni kingdom, the need to restore the statehood was passed down from generation to generation. The Father of history created another important work (“Ashkharhatsoyts”-“Armenian Geography”) next to the mental and spiritual homeland, fragmented under the rule of foreigners: presenting the materialized historical territory of the Fatherland. Indeed, the study of the immortal work “The History of Armenia” by Movses Khorenatsi is inexhaustible in various scientific aspects. Thus, we are trying to focus on one important fact — we are talking about the word քաջ— “brave” repeatedly used by the Father of history, the semantic application of which with the same content gives rise to conclusions in various information. The patriotic historian, in addition to historical information, tried to consolidate the historical memory of his people with his work, sowing national pride in heroic ancestors. It was necessary to prepare the majority of the Armenian people under the rule of Sassanid Iran to restore independence, not to reconcile themselves to foreign rule. Accordingly, Khorenatsi inspired his people’s desire for liberty by highlighting historical figures of powerful personalities in his work. Moreover, it is no coincidence that the Greek historian Xenophon, whose information was combined with Khorenatsi’s data, also spoke about the freedom-loving spirit of the Armenian people.
