“THE MAIN OUTLINES OF THE NEW, SOVIET HISTORY OF SCIENCE ARE SLOWLY BEGINNING TO EMERGE”. THE RELEASE OF THE SELECTED MATERIALS ON THE SCIENTIFIC WORK OF THE INSTITUTE FOR THE HISTORY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OF THE USSR ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (1933-19
The author publishes material pertaining to the historiography of the history of science. The selected minutes of the meetings, spanning the years 1933-1934, have been drawn from the archival collection of the Institute for the History of Science and Technology of the USSR Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences). Two pieces of the minutes pertain to the brigade on feudalism and the manufactory period of capitalism in Russia (16th-18th centuries), while the others relate to the Branch of the History of Technology. The presented materials demonstrate the disparate perceptions held by the staff of the academic institute regarding the content of historical and scientifi c research and the methodologies employed in its presentation. One can note the role of the chairman of the meeting who presented an overview of the fi ndings with theoretical conclusions. The publication of the sources is footnoted with biographical information about the participants in the meetings, which allows illustrating the collective expertise of the speakers and the staff of the Institute in the area of the history of science and presenting their engagement with scientifi c discussions.
