Enhancing Supervisee Development: Integrating the IDM and Crucial Cs in Supervision
ABSTRACT: Supervision is a critical component in therapists’ training and development. Supervisors often encounter supervisees who struggle with feelings of inadequacy in various areas, such as courage, connection, capability, and significance. These feelings can be encapsulated in the Crucial Cs framework: courage, connect, capable, and count. This article explores tailored strategies for supervising such supervisees at different developmental levels through the lens of the integrated developmental model and the Crucial Cs framework. By understanding and addressing supervisees’ specific needs, supervisors can enhance supervisees’ sense of efficacy and value, ultimately improving their therapeutic effectiveness.
