BALE: A Web-based Food Tourism Information System Using Gamification
Pampanga stands out amongst other tourist destinations as the "Culinary Capital of the Philippines," though it does not have a modern dedicated site for tourists. Using web applications for tourism is not unheard of; Pampanga's tourism website is limited to a simple tab on its outdated provincial website and a tab on another site. The main goal of this study is to develop a web application that uses gamification mechanics to encourage users to visit Pampanga, Philippines. The study applied the Iterative Waterfall Model. Considering the feedback from peers from the same study and targeted individuals from the modified GUESS-18 survey and Google's PageSpeedInsight was vital. In summary, Bale found a 6.15 usability rating and a 5.96 social connectivity rating through GUESS-18. Bale successfully implemented gamified mechanics like a point system, leaderboard, and social cooperation, to enhance usability and disseminate cultural information to users about Pampanga through gamified food tourism.
