Indicators of Educational Deprivation among the Population in Dhi Qar Governorate for the year 2023

Education and its indicators represent a fundamental area in assessing the level of human development, both in Iraq and globally, particularly in developing nations. This is largely due to the strong link between education and various economic and social dimensions within a country. Education seeks to equip individuals to navigate civilizational and technological changes in life, facilitating the integration and connection between individuals and their environment. This study focused on a significant and intricate issue faced by Dhi Qar Governorate in the realm of education, specifically the challenge of educational deprivation. The study revealed the spatial inequality of educational deprivation in Dhi Qar Governorate by examining five indicators, which were thoroughly analyzed alongside their spatial representation through maps and graphical forms. The findings regarding the indicators of educational packages in the study area were presented through a triple classification of deprivation, categorizing families into deprived, self-sufficient, and better-off groups. The design of the questionnaire form was derived from the non-divided basic needs guide, calculated using data from the household living conditions survey conducted by the Central Agency for Statistics and Informatics in 2006 and 2011, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The analysis of the tables was conducted to determine the extent of deprivation manifestations within the educational sector.
