EXPERIENCE IN MANAGEMENT OF OMPHALOCELE IN NEWBORNS
Omphalocele is one of the most common congenital abdominal wall defects. The management of patients with giant omphalocele remains a difficult problem. The size of the defect and the severity of the associated anomalies determine the overall morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study is to carry out an analysis and comparative assessment of the effectiveness of surgical treatment of 10 newborns with different size of omphalocele and to determine the dependence of outcomes on the presence of viscero-abdominal disproportion. Primary abdominoplasty was performed in 6 patients with small and medium-sized omphalocele. In 4 patients with giant omphalocele, two-stage surgical correction was performed using an active traction system. There were no fatal outcomes. The aesthetic result of the treatment was satisfactory. Multicomponent assessment of intra-abdominal pressure in the postoperative period helps to prevent the development of severe postoperative complications.
