Predictive value of the angiographic GRACE score in patient with ST elevation myocardial infarction
Objectives. Accurate risk stratification plays an important role in the management of patients with ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, few studies have developed a prognostic model based on the GRACE score combined with the results of coronary angiography and intervention. Therefore, we conducted this study to determine the predictive value of the angiographic GRACE score for in-hospital mortality in patients with ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. Material and methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted at Da Nang Hospital from March 2022 to September 2023 involving patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention for acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Outcomes. The study included 139 patients; the mean age was 63.51 ± 13.07, and 29.5% of the patients were female. The in-hospital mortality rate was 10.1%. The angiographic GRACE score had a very good prognostic value for in-hospital mortality (AUC = 0.921, p < 0.001). Compared with the TIMI and GRACE scores, the angiographic GRACE score demonstrated a higher predictive value for in-hospital mortality. Conclusions. The angiographic GRACE score showed excellent predictive ability for in-hospital mortality (AUC = 0.921, p = 0.001). It also had a better prognostic value for in-hospital mortality than the GRACE and TIMI scores.
