Efecto del Gasto Público en la Producción Interna del Perú (1980-2023)
The objective of this article is to determine the effect of public expenditure on Peru's internal production during the period 1980-2023. Despite neoliberal discourse, government size has been steadily increasing, along with its influence on employment and the composition of internal production, both through public consumption and public investment. This study utilized real data on these variables published by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. Their evolution and components were analyzed, and regression analysis was applied to measure the impact of public expenditure on internal production. The findings indicate that, despite an emphasis on market-driven economic activity, in practice, public consumption and investment have continued to grow, maintaining their importance in the formation of internal production.
