Management Decisions Based on Comparative Numerical Analysis of Latent Thermal Energy Storage Using Multi-Stage and Single-Stage Phase Change Materials

This study investigates the performance of a multi-stage latent thermal energy storage (LHTES) system utilizing three distinct phase change materials (PCMs) compared to a single-stage system using only Stearic Acid. Employing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations., we reveal that the multi-stage system exhibits a 15.5% reduction in melting time and a 6.9% increase in efficiency during the charging phase. The findings highlight the impact of spatial thermal energy distribution on melting rates., along with stable temperature profiles that minimize thermal shock. This research underscores the potential of integrating diverse organic PCMs to enhance efficiency and sustainability in concentrated solar power applications.

The findings highlight the impact of spatial thermal energy distribution on melting rates., along with stable temperature profiles that minimize thermal shock. This research underscores the potential of integrating diverse organic PCMs to enhance efficiency and sustainability in concentrated solar power applications.
