Transformerless DC Converter Circuit in Closed-Loop Configuration for LED Lighting Systems
The increasing global energy demand necessitates a shift away from traditional, polluting methods like oil and gas towards hybrid renewable energy sources. However, renewable sources exhibit erratic behaviour, prompting the use of power electronic devices like inverters and DC-DC converters to manage these issues. Among these, DC-DC converters stand out for their efficacy in voltage regulation and enhancing renewable energy system efficiency. Optimal converter selection significantly impacts system performance. This study focuses on a non-isolated converter's behavior with a voltage gain factor using MATLAB Simulink for LED lighting systems. Operating for high step-up and soft-switching, it minimizes current stress and reduces switching losses, offering advantages like decreased turn-off losses and unrestricted duty ratios. For high-voltage conversion of energy applications, this converter's efficiency is superior to that of hard-switching converters. The paper introduces a non-isolated DC-DC converter designed for LED lighting systems using controllers like the proportional resonant controller and hysteresis controller. The evaluation of the controller-based system's outcomes involves analyzing the system's response in relation to time domain parameters.
