Securing the Petroleum Supply Chain Through Proof of Work Implementation

The petroleum supply chain in India involves various players from crude oil exploration to refined product distribution, creating a complex and competitive environment. Implementing blockchain technology offers a decentralized and immutable solution to enhance transparency, security, and efficiency across the supply chain. This study demonstrates the implementation of a Proof of Work (PoW) mechanism in the petroleum supply chain using python, defining Block and Blockchain classes, creating a Proof of Work mechanism, and simulating transactions. The experimental results, using different difficulty levels, show that increasing the number of leading zeros in the hash significantly raises computational complexity and time, thereby strengthening the blockchain's tamper-resistance. This approach ensures a reliable and transparent record of petroleum transactions from extraction to end-user delivery.
