ANÁLISE ESPACIAL DOS INDICADORES EPIDEMIOLÓGICOS DE HANSENÍASE E DE SERVIÇOS DA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA À SAÚDE BUCAL DO NORTE E NORDESTE DO BRASIL, 2012 A 2021
Leprosy is a Neglected Tropical Disease caused by the Mycobacterium leprae bacillus. This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological indicators of leprosy and primary oral health care services in the North and Northeast of Brazil. It is an ecological observational quantitative epidemiological study. The dependent variable was the detection coefficient of new leprosy cases, and the independent variables were social determinants and indicators of oral health care. A descriptive spatial analysis and a regression analysis were carried out using software. The results show that the states of Pará, Tocantins, Rondônia and Maranhão are hyperendemic. In the regression analysis of sociodemographic variables, in the North there were five significant variables, p<0.05, namely: % of the population living in households with a bathroom and running water, (HDI), % of people aged 25 or over with completed higher education, % of employed people aged 18 or over who are self-employed, and maximum per capita household income of the 10th poorest fifth. As for oral health indicators, only the coverage of oral health teams and the number of oral health teams were significant in the regions. Leprosy is still endemic in the regions studied and it is necessary to improve access to health services.
