Development of a Performance Evaluation Model for Tennis Players Using Event-based Scoring and Non-linear Regression with Differential Evolution Algorithm

This paper introduces the development of a model aimed at capturing the progression of scoring events in single or multiple tennis matches. The model serves the purpose of evaluating player performance within specific time intervals and determining their progress. To achieve this, we have created an evaluation model with relevant features and considered the use of data dimensionality reduction techniques to consolidate or enhance these features. Utilizing these problem-specific features, we can calculate performance scores for each player at different time points in every match. Subsequently, a non-linear regression model is established, using event time points as independent variables and performance scores as dependent variables. The parameters of this model are then determined using the differential evolution algorithm.
