Fish Waste-Based Organic Fertilizer Formulation with Taguchi Design of Experiment Approach
This study aims to improve the utilization of fish waste as a raw material in the production of solid organic fertilizers rich in macronutrients, such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Experimental research methods utilizing the Taguchi Design of Experiment (DoE) technique to determine the optimal formulation of several main ingredients, namely fish waste, rice bran, EM-4, and bromelain. The decomposition process was carried out aerobically for 37 days, followed by laboratory testing to measure the levels of N, P, and K in each sample. The test results showed that each variation of the formulation produced nutrient levels that met the SNI 19-7030-2004 standard, with the highest composition in the sample containing 1 kg of rice bran and 300 ml of EM-4, which reached a phosphorus content of 7.0874%. The increase in the content of fish waste and bromelain in the composition contributed to a significant increase in nitrogen and potassium levels. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the formulation based on fish waste and additional materials can be optimized to produce quality organic fertilizers that meet standards, supporting sustainable agricultural efforts.
