The Application of Digital Twin Technology Empowered by 5G Networksand Big Data in Smart Campus

In the context of smart campuses, as the demand for campus services among students and faculty continues to grow, higher education institutions need to explore innovative strategies to enhance the campus living experience. Digital twin technology, by creating a virtual replica of the physical campus, enables managers to conduct simulations, analyses, and optimizations in a virtual environment, effectively guides the decision-making and operations of physical campuses, thereby providing higher education institutions with a new approach to campus management and decision support. By integrating the high-speed and low-latency characteristics of 5G networks, along with the deep analytical capabilities of big data, this paper proposes an integrated digital twin platform capable of real-time simulation of campus operations and prediction of the impact of various campus activities on resources. A study of a service application case at a certain university indicates that the combination of digital twin technology with 5G and big data significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of campus management and enhances the quality of campus services and student experience. This study not only provides practical guidance for the implementation of digital twin technology in higher education institutions but also suggests directions for future research.
