Zero Carbon Renovation of Existing Buildings in Regions with Hot Summers and Cold Winters

Due to the large inventory and high energy consumption of existing buildings, in order to explore the method of transforming existing buildings into zero carbon buildings to achieve low energy efficiency operation, a university building from the 1980s was transformed into a building that meets the latest zero carbon standards through structural reinforcement, exterior insulation, door and window replacement, and the application of new energy technologies. Explored passive and active technologies encountered in the renovation of existing buildings, explored methods and results comparison of energy consumption calculation for buildings through different software, and studied various insulation nodes, thermal bridge nodes, and airtightness practices in the renovation of existing buildings. This laid the foundation for various renovation plans for existing public buildings in the future and provided case studies.
