Risk factors associated with COVID 19 infection in children

Introduction: COVID-19 constitutes an emerging disease that affects the pediatric population, with multiple factors associated with its occurrence. Objective: determine the biogenetic, epidemiological and social risk factors associated with COVID-19 infection in children aged 6-11 years from the "Raúl Sánchez" polyclinic, during the period from January 1 to December 31, 2021.Methods: analytical research of cases and controls, universe consisting of 435 children aged 6 to 11 years confirmed to have the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the sample was constituted by 40 cases, selected by systematic sampling, from which 80 controls, contacts of cases formed who were not infected. The information was obtained by reviewing the database of confirmed cases, epidemiological surveys and a questionnaire of questions to the guardians. The statistical analysis was carried out by the Epidat 3.0 program using the Chi square test, the ratio of cross products in a timely manner and by confidence intervals. Results: an association was found between having fallen ill with COVID-19 and biogenetic and epidemiological factors related to not having received breastfeeding until the fourth month, having a history of chronic diseases, exposure time greater than one hour, indoor exposure, being in contact with a case. symptomatic and non-compliance with established health measures. Conclusions: epidemiological and biogenetic factors were those with the greatest association with COVID - 19 infection in children aged 6 to 11 years belonging to the Raúl Sánchez polyclinic in 2021
