The article highlights the importance of international obligations in the process of legal regulation of relations between states in the system of international relations. The article discusses the role of the institution of obligation in the activities of the main subjects of international law.At the same time, the importance of the obligations of states is discussed not only within the framework of the contracting parties, but also from the point of view of the interests of states, which have the character of an erga omnes norm. The current research topic on the obligation of states is mainly devoted to international obligations. The aim is to highlight the relevance of the topic by drawing attention to the importance of examining the international obligations of states in legal science and doctrine. Obligations expressed in various forms due to their legal nature were analyzed, regardless of the type of customary law and agreements.
