A Comparative Study on the Physical Fitness and Lower Leg Function of Middle School Soccer Players according to the Periodic Training Model

This study was conducted for 8 weeks to compare the physical fitness and lower limb muscle function of middle school soccer players according to the periodized training model. Block periodization training group(BP, n=15), traditional periodization training group(TP, n=15), and the following conclusions were obtained. First, both BP and TP increased significantly in height( p<.001), and body weight ( p<.001) and lean body mass( p<.01) increased significantly in BP before and after the experiment. Second, grip strength increased significantly in both BP( p<.001) and TP( p<.05), and in hand-eye coordination in both BP( p<.05)and TP ( p<.001). BP was significantly increased in repetitive jumps( p<.001) and sit-forward bending( p<.01). However, there was no significant difference in VO2max, hang time, and IL. Third, there was a significant increase in 60°/sec left and right of leg extensor in BP( p<.001) and a significant increase in 60°/sec right leg flexor in TP( p<.01). Significant increases were seen in 180°/sec left leg extensor( p<.001), left leg flexor( p<.01), right leg extensor( p<.001) in BP, and significant increases in left leg extensor( p<.05) right leg extensor( p<.01) in TP. Considering the above results, it is believed that BP showed a significant improvement in the physical strength of middle school soccer players and a significant improvement in lower limb muscle function compared to TP, but in this study, the training was carried out without the organizational adaptation period and tapering process, so future studies should consider the limitations of this study and the diversity of athletes and training programs in various sports.
