De la dépréciation syntaxique de l’adjectif à sa valorisation sémantique pour renforcer le discours chez Gide et Diderot

The traditional description of the adjective does not grant it syntactic autonomy. In addition, its semantic categorization is imprecise. Therefore, the term "qualifier" that is given to it does not entirely reflect the way of semantically determining the noun. However, its determination can be objective or subjective, depending on the syntactic position. The terms "qualifier" and "characterizing" are found to highlight the dual value of the adjective in the description of discursive facts. Perhaps the adjective should be thought of in a semantic dynamic that would give it even more value and, above all, put an end to its grammatically unfounded devaluation. Keywords : adjective, characterization, enunciation, qualification, semantics.
