THE DEPARTMENT OF FINE ARTS AND THE FIRST STEPS OF ARTISTIC AND PEDAGOGICAL EDUCATION IN LENINGRAD IN 1961-1962
The Faculty of Art and Graphics of the Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute named after A. I. Herzen traces its history back to 1959. During the first two years, the training of teachers of drawing, drafting and labour was based on disciplines of a predominantly technical nature. However, 1960-1961 saw significant changes that determined a different development of the faculty. The emergence of the Department of Fine Arts changed the vector towards the predominance of the artistic-creative and art history component. The article, based on archival materials, presents the history of the creation of the department, which determined the specifics of training teachers-artists.
